Tots and Tales Daycare
Tots and Tales Daycare has been serving Delta families since 2015 and is known locally for its warm, story-based learning approach that helps toddlers move from play to early literacy. If you want a place where imaginative play is paired with measurable early learning, this is the centre parents often recommend.
The centre offers full-day care for infants (6 months to 18 months), toddlers (18 months to 3 years) and preschoolers (3 to 5 years), plus a before- and after-school program for school-aged children. Classrooms are bright and divided by age, with low shelves of books, sensory tables, and Montessori-style learning materials. Daily programming includes circle time, guided story sessions, outdoor play on the fenced 1,200 square-foot playground, and simple science activities such as seed planting and water exploration. The centre uses the BC Early Learning Framework and keeps groups small, with ratios that meet or exceed provincial guidelines.
What sets Tots and Tales apart is how they put those frameworks into action. Teachers create weekly story plans that connect songs, crafts and gross motor games to a single theme, so children practise language and social skills in several contexts. Staff hold ECE certificates, first aid and infant CPR, and participate in monthly professional development on topics like conflict resolution and early literacy strategies. Communication is daily and practical: parents receive photo-filled updates through the centre’s app, plus a monthly portfolio showing milestones and next steps.
Locally owned and walkable from key Delta neighbourhoods, Tots and Tales takes part in community story walks and the annual Family Fun Day at the community centre. Families choose them for consistency, real learning outcomes, and a team that knows Delta’s kids by name.
